Materials Requiring Additional Instructions
The following materials have additional instructions that must be followed to be accepted through HHW Collection:
Asbestos
Pieces must be less than 3 feet long/wide, wetted, double bagged, and the bags must be sealed. Label bags with "Asbestos".
If your device is designed to have the battery removed, only bring the battery.
If your device has a battery which cannot be removed without damaging the device, do not attempt to remove the battery, bring the device intact.
Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFLs)
Place into a sealed plastic bag and place in a rigid container to prevent breakage.
Fluorescent Tubes
Tape tubes together, or place tubes into a cardboard box and secure them in your vehicle to prevent breakage.
Mercury & Items Containing Liquid Mercury (Thermometers, Thermostats)
Place into a sealed plastic bag and placed in a rigid container. Inform the technician that you have mercury in your vehicle.
